Discount Dapper Tip of the Day: Sweater Polo

Sticking with our summer series we have the sweater (aka knit) polo; for when you want to say, “Yes, I golf… but only socially and exclusively in 60-degree weather.” Personally I always felt a little uncomfortable wearing a classic cotton polo out in social settings (even if it didn’t have a big stupid “Polo Ralph Lauren” emblem on it), but I’ve got a couple sweater polos recently and I feel a lot more comfortable wearing them to parities, wine tastings, date nights, or anything half way “classed up”.

How to wear it: At first I was a little hesitant to wear these in the summer, after all it’s a half a micron thicker than a normal shirt, how could one ever live with such a first world problem as the half of a degree temperature increase that such an incredible looking shirt would encumber you with!? Here are some tips followed by some style inspo:

I do suggest wearing these with pants (that will help the “classed up” part).
Play with tucking or untucking it to see what you feel more comfortable with.
Like all other clothing fit is king. Play with sizing when you are looking for these and don’t be afraid to “size down” to get a good fit especially around your core.
