Discount Dapper Tip of the Week: Pocket Squares

Here at Discount Dapper, and by “here” I mean my sad guest bedroom I call an office (sorry to blow the facade that I’m sitting in mid town Manhattan getting fitted for luxury suits all day), we believe that there are quite a few small subtle things one can do to to improve your style. Enter the pocket square.

I’m of the belief that you don’t even need to be wearing a tie to utilize a pocket square. For example:

My suggestion to get into “the pocket square game” would be to get an inexpensive “PS” (even from amazon or wherever) that either matches your go to formal outfit, or is a color that goes with most of what you would wear (white is a great option here). Then try incorporating it into your next formal event or dressed up date night. A high quality PS can also be a great gift.

The next question is how to fold it. There is a lot of strong opinions which type of fold to use, of which I actually don’t have one. I would say take a look at some of the most frequently used options, choose what feels right for you, then youtube how to fold it like that. Here are some of the most common.
